The Image of God

God’s Image and You

Gen 1:26-27
Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Genesis 9:6
"Whoever sheds the blood of man,
by man shall his blood be shed;
for in the image of God
has God made man."

2 Corinthians 4:4
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

Colossians 1:15
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

Colossians 3:10
. . .Put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

Some questions to consider:

1. What do these passages reveal about God?
2. What do they reveal about us?
3. How does it make you feel to be made in the image of God?
4. What do you think that means?
5. How does it affect you to realize that others are created in the image of God as well?

It should stop and make me think about others, even those I don't know. How do I treat them? How I should respect and treat other people simply for the fact they are created in the image of God.
