Memorial Day evening

* * *

We've had a nice Memorial Day. It began with the 10K Cotton Row Run at 7 a.m. I asked Ben if he would like for me to run with him, and he said, "yes." So I did. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and we cruised the hills in 54.20, which was not too bad on a very humid morning. Ben was very pleased with his performance, and I was very proud of him. Kedra and Rebecca walked the 6.2 miles in a little less than 1.40. They were happy.

Soon after the race, we cleaned up, packed up, and headed up 1-65. The traffic was surprisingly less heavy than we expected, and it was flowing well. We made it home in plenty of time for a cookout at my parents' place.

We have more Luke news. He was able to call this evening. Here's what they have lined up (of course they are in a 3rd world country so things can change):

A guaranteed flight out of Guatemala City on Saturday (pushed back from Tuesday)

A flight out of El Salvador on Wednesday

So I THINK the group is going to try drive to El Salvador and fly home from there. There are some risks in all that, so we would appreciate your continued prayers. Luke sounds tired. He is eager to get home, and I am sure the rest of the team is also.

I appreciate all your prayers thus far.

Here's the latest news:

To All:

A quick update from Antigua....after spending today going to the city and working with Delta, we have arranged to fly from San Salvador, El Salvador on Wednesday. The earliest that we could have left Guatemala City was Saturday June 5th. Thus, we will be leaveing very early on Wednesday morning for a 2.5 hour drive to the El Salvador aiport. The flight we will be on from there will be Delta 374. We depart at 12:55pm and will arrive in Atlanta at 6:36pm. From there the team will be picked up as planned and taken to Nashville. I will keep you posted on any changes that are made.

Please pray for our travels to El Salvador and for our flight home.
Blessings

From Luke:

The plan is to get up real early and drive along the coast 2 hours to San Salvador. We're budgeting 4 hours. Our bus driver has made this trip ten times and has gone to Nicaragua every month for the last 5 years. So we should be pretty good getting there. I think you got the email Kris sent out about the flight and times. Kris also has 4 phone numbers of people in El Salvador linked to a Lipscomb mission trip, so I think were covered.

Here’s the absolute latest. Luke and the team of which he is a part are leaving Guatemala this afternoon to travel to El Salvador. They are scheduled to fly out of El Salvador tomorrow afternoon. They have good connections with safe people on the route they have chosen, so everything should go well. I know they would appreciate your prayers.
