What if that's all you had? Six months to live - what would you do?
We had a really good discussion at Jay Eubank's home this evening, and it included this question.
It's been a good day; busy but good. I got a lot accomplished, and that always makes me feel better. I got a good 7 mile run in this morning. I ran a hilly course from Spice Valley church to the Bryantsville church and back, plus a little more. It felt good; the warmer weather is nice.
Oakland City went well today. My students were in a mood to talk/discuss. That always makes things better. We talked about the Eastern Orthodox Church, St. Francis, and the Crusades. We covered a lot of territory!
Tomorrow is my day to study. Church history. Ephesians 4:1-6.

So, what WOULD you do if you had only 6 months to live? All of the guys last night said essentially the same thing. The focus would be basically on two things: family and faith. They would seek more quality time with the ones they love the most, and they would be more intentional about their relationship with God. Makes sense.
If you knew your time was limited (and of course it already is), then what would you say to those around you? Would some of the stuff you are concerned about now really matter? And what about your relationship with God?
I really think we are called to live our lives with the awareness that they could end at any moment. Right?
Luke, along with his surveying team, got in from Guatemala last night. All of them got sick. Stomach trouble. The villagers insisted on cooking for them etc. It's just one of those things that happens.
OK, back to work...
